All swimmers must have a swim session booking to enter a Bury Leisure pool.
- Members can book online or in-centre up to 7 days in advance
- Non-members can book online or in-centre up to 5 days in advance
Our swimming pool admission policy is designed in accordance with the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management Guidelines and our own risk assessment, to keep everyone safe when swimming at our centres.
The policy is in operation at:
- Castle Leisure Centre
- Ramsbottom Pool and Fitness Centre
Obligations
Please note: For the purpose of this policy a responsible adult must be at least 16 years of age and able to provide proof of age if requested by us.
The responsible adult
A responsible adult is limited to entering the pool with a maximum of two children aged 10 and under, unless the children are aged over 8 and are able to swim a minimum of 100 metres.
- The responsible adult must go into the water with the children they are responsible for and maintain close and constant supervision over them, especially if the children are weak or non-swimmers.

The responsible adult must make sure that weak or non-swimmers are restricted to either the teaching pool or the designated shallow end of the main pool.

The responsible adult must ensure weak or non-swimmers wear approved swimming aids, such as arm bands.
All swimmers
All swimmers should take care to always swim within their own swimming ability and remain aware at all times of the pool depth along its length.
- If any specialist assistance may be required, swimmers are requested to inform the the Duty Manager in advance of entering the pool.
- Any swimmer that suffers from any illness or disability which may affect their swimming ability must inform a lifeguard prior to entering the pool.
